Maria Heckley or Hickley
« on: Saturday 28 July 18 16:37 BST (UK) »
I am trying to locate information on Maria Heckley / Hickley. She married Richard Buxey at St Thomas Church, Portsmouth on 1st October 1734 & they had at least 4 children before Richard died in 1749 in South Stoneham, I have been unable to locate information on her birth or baptism or death & whether she remarried after her husbands death.

I have located a John Heckley & Elizabeth Fisher who had children around the time of Maria's approx. birth of 1715, although John was Heckley, their children were all Hickly. This family were in the Fareham area

Any help would be appreciated, Thank you

Mary Hockley bpt 11 Dec 1713 Holy Trinity Gosport
Parents: John & Mary Hockley

Not too  certain this is the correct one.  While it is in close proximity to Portsmouth, it is on the other side of the harbour.  Did people cross the water to get married in those days.

Richard (great name)

Yes, they did, more often than one might think  ;)
