School for Young Ladies Newbridge Hill Bath
« on: Saturday 28 July 18 20:45 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can help with my query.........there is a building in Newbridge Hill, Bath, which has the inscription painted on the front wall which reads  'School for Young Ladies'.  Any information leading me to discover the origin of this establishment would help enormously....thank you. :)

Thank you for your responses.....I know about 'Strathmore' however the 'School for Young Ladies' is a detached building numbered 63 Newbridge Hill but the actual numbering of the properties probably changed after WW2 due to bombing in the area. It is a very distinctive building and was probably quite grand in its day....my search goes on! :)

Edith Sloan is listed in the 1923 Directory as proprietor of a private school at 87 Newbridge Hill.

There's also this snippet from a 1925 Almanac in Google books : "....be trained in gentle and courteous habits and to be taught to follow earnestly all that is worthy of pursuit in work and in play. Prospectus and References may be obtained from Miss NORRIS, "Tula," Newbridge Hill, Bath,"  The Norrises were at number 32 around that time.

63 Newbridge Hill is no longer a detached property?
There is 63A to the left, and 63 to the right (when looking from the road).
And Newbridge Court along the drive to the left of 63A.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Thank you, KGarrad and ShaunJ for your additional information.....the building has been divided into separate flats over the years....

ShaunJ.....a very interesting piece of information concerning Edith Sloan - I now have a name with which to work!

Many thanks to you all for your input and patience.. :)

Thanks for confirming 63A - I had checked it out on Streetview.

The 1951 "old map" of Bath has Newbridge Hill with house numbers and I've been looking at prewar old maps - unnumbered - to compare how much it had changed/developed over the war years.
