Francis Saunders Perratt was bpt in Yeovil, Somerset, in 1832, s/o John and Ann (familysearch) ...

John Perratt married Ann Saunders 1831, Puriton, Somerset. He gave his residence as Yeovil, and that's where 4 sons were baptised ... Frances Saunders 1832, John Bishop 1834, Thomas and Robert 1836 (later evidence of 6 children in total).
I've not yet found them in the 1841 or 1851 censuses, however John is in Bristol in 1861 ... with (second) wife Jesse, and son John Bishop ... where he is an agent for Cement Plaster Co.
Familysearch gives a marriage for a John Perratt and Janet S Hendry* in Port Glasgow, Scotland, Dec 1855. SP has the cert and confirms John is born 1804 in North Curry, Somerset, parents John Perratt & Betty Bishop. This is said to be a second marriage for both parties. I can't make out John's occupation on the cert (maybe tanner), but it doesn't appear sugar-related, though a year later, at the time of his son's marriage, he may well have been working as a sugar refiner in Greenock or Port Glasgow.

* Jesse was bpt Janet Stevenson Henry, Port Glasgow, 1808, d/o William Henry & Janet Cousins (Henry not Hendry) (SP)
