Does anyone have information on the family of the above, divorced and living/working in Weston-super-Mare in the 1939 Census.  There was  Hiram Simpson resident with him (brother? father?)
and one other (now deceased)?   We believe that Hiram is a Jewish given name, but as Jewishness
descends only through the female line (changing in each generation) an ancestral search could be
more difficult.   I am enquiring re this family on behalf of my cousin in Coventry.
Warwicks: Whitehead, Allcock, Atkins, Bayley, Beacham, Bilson, Brooks, Cleaver,Farmer,Gilks, Lucas, Kendall, Oliver, Pickard, Shilton, Underhill.

Have you looked for his birth reg on freebmd and then used GRO to find his mothers maiden name?

Use freebmd or the 1911 census to find his parents marriage/christian names

Have you checked freebmd for a marriage for him then same website to establish if any children were born to the marriage?

www.freebmd.org.uk
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp

You can use the GRO site to check for mothers maiden names pre 1911 so can see which other children were born to his parents

You will have Hiram's birth details from the 1939 register so can use that to establish any connection via freebmd

If he was his father he would be substantially older

Hiram b 1878 so father seems more likely.

This seems likely on 1901 - 54 Causeway Lane, Leicester

Hiram Simpson    22 - shoe repairer b Leicester
Elizabeth Simpson    20 - hosiery mender b Coventry
Rose Simpson    3 months
William Dale    45 - boarder

There is a marriage for a James W Simpson which is a possibility -

Spouse - Ivy Whitehead.

There is a birth to this marriage in 1933, will not post details as they may be still alive.
