Ann Sykes Parents.
« on: Sunday 29 July 18 19:42 BST (UK) »
Looking for the parents of Ann Sykes.

I have Ann Sykes marrying Joseph Adams 27 May 1799 Loughborough.

I put her birthdate at around 1775.
I thought she was most likely the Ann Sykes bapt 13 Jan 1777 Loughborough daughter or Nicholas Sykes and Ann Atherley.
But I discovered a Burial for an Ann Sykes daughter of Nicholas 1798 Loughborough so I thought that ruled that out.
But I have noticed that Ann and Joseph Adams name 4 of their children the same names as 4 of the children baptised to Nicholas and Ann Sykes.
William Adams
Elizabeth Adams
Bridget Adams
Benjamin Adams

William Sykes
Elizabeth Sykes
Bridget Sykes
Benjamin Sykes

Nicholas and Ann also have a son called Nicholas bapt 1773 Loughborough and this got me thinking could the Infant Ann who dies 1798 be a daughter of Nicholas Sykes Jr?
Nicholas Jr marries 1795 Loughborough to Sarah Beck.
Although I cant see any baptisms for this pair apart from a baptism 1803 Loughborough for a daughter Sarah Sykes. I believe more children must have been born between 1795-1803 but I cant see any.
I know there are some discrepancies with Loughborough baptisms especially if non conformist as I cant find a baptism for Joseph Adams or my other ancestor John Langdale either.

It seems there must be a connection as Ann names children the same names as her possible siblings.

The only other possibility is this for Ann.
Ann Sykes bapt 28 Sep 1775 Billesdon, Leic. daughter of Henry Wildbore Sykes and Susannah Bruin. This Ann is also baptised as Ann Wildbore and possibly the Ann Wildbore who marries in Langton 1795 but this could also be the Ann Wildbore bapt 1771 Billesdon to John and Elizabeth.

Ann does have a son called Henry Adams...Coincidence or named after her father?

Hi
Just noticed this All Saints Loughborough again
Ann Sikes (Twin) c23 Sept 1798 parents Nicholas & Sarah   Nicholas a butcher
Elizabeth Sikes c 23 Sept 1798 parents Nicholas & Sarah   Nicholas a  butcher

So it looks like Nicholas & Sarah had twins both baptized 23 Sept 1798 Ann & Elizabeth. Ann dies and is buried 2 October 1798

Thank you very much for this, confirms that this Ann was daughter of Nicholas Jr and my Ann must be the Ann bapt 1777 Loughborough dau of Nicholas Sr.

I did notice that an Ann Sykes was buried either 1803/04 Loughborough dau of Nicholas on freereg. I assume another dau of Nicholas Jr.
