WW1 card help please
« on: Tuesday 31 July 18 08:59 BST (UK) »
I have been trying to find out info about the person who sent a few cards to my great gran in WW1. I have a few of the embroidered ones and they have been signed by Harry. In the pocket of one is this card and I can't for the life of me find a H A or Harry Farling. Am I reading his surname wrong, could it be something else? I'm, sure it also says corporal in the RAMC
My great gran lived in Cornwall and I thought perhaps this chap was also from there.
An extra pair of eyes to maybe see if the F is actually something else although I have tried just about every combination.

Thanks.

I was just about to say the same thing Shaun!  And he was discharged 2.1.1918, having been awarded the 1914-15 Star and the Victory Medal.

Oh my goodness, thank you all so much. That must have been the only letter I hadn't tried. I am going to try to do a bit more research on him now.

OK thats interesting. My great gran had my gran illegitimately in Nov. 1918 and she has never known the name of her dad. It does leave a huge branch clear on my tree. The way he has worded some of the postcards were very affectionate so this is another line I am going to go down now. Thank you all for your help.  ;D

Per medical records he was treated for a gunshot wound to the scalp in February 1917 at which time he was aged 29 so he must have been born circa 1887. He was serving with 53 Field Ambulance.
