Yarnscombe cemetery (St Andrews)
« on: Tuesday 31 July 18 16:04 BST (UK) »
I have been researching the Isaac family in Yarnscombe Devon.

I can confirm that a Nathaniel Isaac was born there 1781 and his father was Ambrose Isaac
There is a Ambrose n 19 Feb 1705 (1706 new calender) for Ambrose s/o William & Sarah Isaac, there is a burial for him on 18 Aug 1707.

The Yarnscombe parish records is on line and there is a entry in 1708 for  a Isaac but the first name is impossible to make out but I am sure I got  he was born of a rootsweb free page of the tombstone inscriptions   http://sites.rootsweb.com/~ukdevon/YarnscombeGravestones.htm.   Rootsweb took these sites down and it appears not all may come back on line.

Is there anyone who has records of this site as it showed all tombstone listings and I am sure it showed a inscription for  Ambrose Isaac 1708  - 1789.

If anyone is in Yarnscombe  if it is not to difficult to find I was hoping they could check,

Any help at all appreciated.

Jim
Thank you and best wishes from Winnipeg.

Jim,
Looking at the FindMyPast images, the baptism in 1708 is, for the most part, reasonably clear. It says Ambrose ye son of William ans wife Sarah was born on 19th Feb and baptised on 21st Feb. What is not clear is two words which I assume is William's occupation. Also the burial register has Ambrose buried on 8th December 1789 but does not give an age.

Thank you so much Peter.
It was very much appreciated but I was wondering if you could have another look at the 1708 entry as I have received more information for the page in question.

1705 (1706 in Gregorian Calendar)
Ambrose ye son of William Isaac Husbandman & Sarah his wife was born Febr 19 baptised 21.

1707
Ambrose ye son of William Isaac was buried August 18.

1708
? ye son of William and Sarah Isaac was baptised June 7 (then something I can't make out)

The two baptisms are on the same page, with the unclear one being right at the bottom.

Hi Jim,
I've had a look and I can't make it out either. However, because of the 1707 burial it does seem likely.
