Birth Certificate deciphering please
« on: Wednesday 01 August 18 11:49 BST (UK) »
Hi all

I'm after some help deciphering the words at the end of the page (bottom right).  I've included bits of the page for reference, but hopefully not all of anything, so wont have infringed copyright.

The bottom line reads:

Sett Maker    Mary Ann Burns, Mother, (placename unsure)   Eleventh April 1908   Wm R Davy

but at the end, there is some further writing, which I am unable to make into anything.  Anyone any suggestions?

Thanks

+ Error in copy only (also initials of the person who wrote it)

I would imagine it relates to something else on the page where there is an +

"Error in copy only" - then initials.

Snap Rosie.  :)

Whereabouts in the world is the entry from? (so we can consider the place name)

Added: Is it Ireland?

I should stop reading newspapers - I was about to say the same as Rosie  :)

Is there any writing in the left hand margin?

Hi All

Yes, it's Ireland, Co Donegal.  Millford, Fannet are the districts/areas concerned.

There is an error on the date entry, so perhaps the error refers to that?

Could the placename be Tonbane?  I've searched for Quarries in Co Donegal, and that's one that came up.  But it seems a long way north of Millford/Fannet!

Second letter looks like a u in both examples. The letter 'o' looks to be formed differently.

It could be a misspelling - Tunbane = Tonbane.
