Thomas Davidson / Mary Nisbet

Thomas Davidson born about 1740 in Leith married Mary Nisbet in 1766 in Leith. I have managed to find Thomas , but cant find where Mary Was born and who her parents were . Gateful if anybody can look in the parish records to find her please.

Theres a Mary Nisbet born Currie in Midlothian 15/09/1765.

Thank you for your reply, however My Mary married Thomas Davidson in 1766. Maybe She had a brother named John , which would make him a relative.

I've looked on SP, and there some Mary Nisbets/Nesbets/Nesbets born around Edinburgh, but the dates don't look too promising.

The best are:
Mary born 1723 to James Nesbit & Mary Pitcairn

May born 1724 to John & Eupham Ferguson

If your Mary had lots of children then both these would probably be too old?

Trouble is, there are a large number of Nesbit's whose birth record at around this time in Edinburgh don't give their first name, or if they do, they don't give a parents name.

If your people had any money they might have left a will, but I can't see one on SP.

Thanks for the look up. Mary married Thomas Davidson in 1766 and had 9 children so probably been born about 1740ish. Those  Edinburgh Nisbets could have been related to her though.

If you have the names of 9 of her children, have you tried working with Scottish naming patterns to try to work out who Mary's parents might have been?

It's not totally reliable as people didn't necessarily follow it, but on occasion it's provided me with potential leads when I've hit a brick wall.
