One last post before bed  Zzzz

A Christina Haxto Dall married a John McKenzie in 1880 in South Leith  ;D

So that looks like Mary Mitchell could have been Mary Dall before she married Daniel McGregor and Christian D McGregor was born to her first husband.

Looby :)

P.S. Goodnight !

Thanks,

In the meantime I managed to find Mary's 2nd husband's death record, and it did indeed have Andrew Dall has her first husband. that took me on a trail.......

I am assuming (bad I know) that Christian D McGregor was a daughter by Andrew, and I found another child, James Dall. I them found James living with his uncle (Mary's brother) Alexander Mitchell in Staffordshire of all places!

A little bizarrely - in another line of my tree altogether - the English one - I have people living in the next village about 50 years before that.

No idea why Alexander went to Staffs. he is recorded as being a Factors Clerk - which I thought he would have been able to do in Scotland. I guess there were just more jobs in England at the time.

Thanks for you help. Sometimes it good to share - it seems to help me think about other possibilities, rather than get stuck on one track.

All because I wanted to find out who my Dad was living with!  :)

The informant on Mary's death was C McKenzie, daughter.
I have turned off all email notifications, thank you.

Was it? I'll check it out, thank you.  :)

I'm not sure why she might be in Tradeston.  I was clearly to quick in dismissing it. Sorry! :-[

The informant on Mary's death was C McKenzie, daughter.

You were absolutely right! Turns out her 1st daughter Christian Dall and son-in-law John McKenzie moved to Glasgow in 1891, obviously not long after the census that year.

Mary must have joined them at some point. It doesn't say that her husband Daniel McGregor was deceased, so presumably he was still alive somewhere.

I'll keep looking!
