Date this photo 1874 or 1885 ? Ursis Trottier and Prudence Jacob

Hello !

Recently I receive this picture, its a tintype I guess. I guess this could be my great-great grandparents Ursis Trottier and Prudence Jacob. But we dont know for sure so I check for a genealogy and old photos forum and I found yours.

There is two possibility for the picture. 1 : this is Ursis and Prudence, married in 1885 in Saint-Stanislas, Québec. Or this is another couple (Joseph Trudel and Eugenie Chateuneuf) married in 1874. The woman who had this photo was never married and this was from one of her grandparents.



I already have one picture of Ursis and there is some difference but also some resemblance. To be sure I need other picture of him but I dont have other. For Prudence I have no picture she die in 1893 at 27 years old.



So is the picture fir more in 1885 or 1874 ?

There's a clear difference on the second picture, he looks to have part of a finger missing so can't be the same man as the first picture because his left hand looks fine.

As the first photo should be reversed as his jacket is fastened the wrong way round, we can't see whether he has lost a finger as it is out of view beneath his top hat.

So the couple picture is not Ursis and Prudence, The man have a different chin that Ursis. So I have absolutely no idea of who this could be. Prudence is my only great-great-grandparent that I do not have a picture.

For the picture of Ursis, it would be from after 1875, because Ursis was born in 1855 and I consider that he have at least 20 years old in the picture. Im sure thats him because this picture was put in the Saint-Séverin town 100th anniversary book because he was mayor. 

For the finger, it look like to be curved. But maybe he was amputed, my grandmother had never heard of that. She didnt not know Ursis because he die in 1929 and she was born in 1933. She remember that her father was speaking about his father but she didn't remember anything. I need to find other picture to be sure.
