Maybe the best reply would be to quote PaulineJ...

I love that statement!  ;D

Well you've all aired your views, advice and comments about some posters on here. I'm amazed that some posters appear to be time wasters but I guess it goes on in most groups and life in general.

Still can't see where the green tick is-does it appear as you're about to post or afterwards?

It apparently appears after you have posted.  I don't know as it is a long time since I actually asked for a lookup on here which is now complete so have not used it myself.

Just found it at the bottom of a page that I started the other day ~

There's a box that says 'Topic Completed'  you tick that and a little green tick appears in the listing against the topic.

I always HOPE that when here is a topic on here the originator has at least done some research to help themselves, come to a brick wall and then ask the RC's to help,  done that myself but in some cases they haven't, most of us RC's pay to belong to numerous genealogy sites, I myself like to take up a challenge as most of us do , can't always win though but it is an enjoyable subject, I like the thrill of the chase to be honest, I really don't know why others don't take up a small subscription to have a feel of what it is like to find answers to your own research purely on their own, yes, I agree us RC's are good humoured people and are willing to help but a thank you would not go amiss sometimes

I am always pleased when someone helps me and I hope I add a thank you to me final message.

Happy Hunting

Louisa Maud

Scroll down to the bottom of this page. You should see the topic title, etc. Under this should be the two options that I showed in my previous post.

I sometimes think 'thank you' is too easy to say.  One poster who makes multiple posts does regularly say thank you but I never feel that it is meant but more like a habit.  I have seen replies that go to several lines just to be responded to by OP as 'Thanks' as though it is something someone has found with no effort and copy/pasted.  It is always nice to get a comment on what has been posted as well.
