Burial search Sheffield area
« on: Monday 06 August 18 15:01 BST (UK) »
A friend of mine who's partner has passed away is trying to locate where his late partner's parents were buried, he knows these details:

Esme Burley, died June 1987 aged 65,  and her husband

Randolph Archibald Burley, died 26 Jan 1991, aged 71/72

He thinks they lived in the Hillsborough area, but isnt 100%, can anyone offer any information on how i can track down where they are buried please?  thanks!

Perhaps getting the death certificates (or one of them) would help with where they were living at the time then you could find out where the nearest cemetery was.

Did you try this before as suggested
Have you tried the bereavement services team?

https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/caresupport/bereavement/contactus.html

I can't speak for Sheffield but my local one has been very helpful.

You won't be able to delete this post but if you ask the mods they will merge it for you

yes i tried them, they said to go to the library in Sheffield and search the records, they would do it but they wanted £15 for a 30 minute search, so its cheaper to go over and do that in person

i have gotten the death certificate for Esme Burley, her address at time of death was 56 Hawksley Avenue, Hillsborough. Does anyone know what cemetery is best to contact to see if she was buried there? thanks!

For people who died more recently it is more likely they were cremated ( or buried) in a municipal cemetery, so my first contact would be the Council who run theses https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/births-deaths-marriages/cemeteries-burials.html
