Welcome to Rootschat.

I have a copy of the Absent Voters List for the Parliamentary Division of Berwick upon Tweed 1918-1920.

I've paged through and can't find these names, but its not searchable and is a LOT of images split into different polling districts and then parishes (in alpha order within each parish) so I may have missed them.

Do you have any idea which area or parish these men lived in/when they joined up  to narrow it down to a particular register?  If so, I can look again and double check.

Boo

Hi Boo,

Thank you I've been on a while, just hadn't realised I had not posted before!

The two Renners i'm looking for lived in Chillingham and the Bentons lived in Lowick in 1911 but may have moved to the Duddo area or possibly across the border so would not show up.

Thanks for the help.

As I suspected I did miss these names (I blame old age) but the additional info helped.

1918 Autumn Absent Voters List Berwick (ER1-32)
Chatton Polling District
Parish of Chillingham

Renner, David Richardson
Chillingham Barns
M/334701 Pte., 52 Co. M.T. A.S.C.

Renner, Thomas William
Chillingham Barns
49109 Pte., 16 R.S.

Then there is another list which is entitled
1918 Autumn Record of Addresses Berwick (ER1-33)

This appears to be the same as the above but there are handwritten notes at the end of each line, presumably to say where the men currently are. These have entries such as B.E.F., no trace, etc

For David Richardson RENNER the note says Aldershot
For Thomas William RENNER, the note says P. (though that may have been a scribbled B) E.F.

1919 Spring Absent Voters List Berwick (ER 1-35)
Chatton Polling District
Parish of Chillingham

Renner, David Richardson
Chillingham Barns
M/334701 Pte., 52 Co., M.T. A.S.C.

Renner, Thomas William
Chillingham Barns
49109 Pte., 16 R.S.

There is an addresses list for this 1919 Spring Absent Voters but no handwritten notes for these two men.

1919 Autumn Absent Voters List Berwick (ER 1-38
Chatton Polling District
Parish of Chillingham

Renner, David Richardson
Chillingham Barns
M/334701 Pte., 52 Co., M.T. A.S.C.

No mention of Thomas William Renner on this 1919 list.

Neither of these men are listed on either the Spring or Autumn lists for 1920.

I have visitors arriving shortly, but will double check for the Benton names later.

Boo

Boo,

Thank you very much, I really appreciate you taking the time.

It confirms what I already knew about both of them, but the addition of Davids service number and company is amazing because as he did not serve overseas I could find no other detail on him being in the A.S.C. I shall look forward to passing on the info to his daughter.

Thomas was discharged in Feb 1919 having being shot the previous year so assume must have been home in the autumn.

Where can I get a copy of these extracts above for my own records?

Thanks once again
