William Mahady

Mentions brother Matthew in the Irish Guards

1911 census -William

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Westmeath/Knockarrow/Carlanstown/881820/

I was bothered because a brother Thomas has arrived on the scene married to Ann

Marriage Thomas Mahady and Ann Thompson

1901 Thomas is born Westmeath  ???

But there is a birth 1867- as ever not sure ages match up

Father William’s death in 1908

 :o
I think the townland we are looking for is Carlanstown, Granard
https://www.johngrenham.com/places/plu_results.php?pluid=84&order=placename&PLU=Granard
I know it doesn’t look like it but the second part I now see as ‘town’ and the first part ‘Col’ which is how it may have sounded.
(That took a while to figure out  :))

Hi Heywood
As you may have seen his army record gives his dob as 1876. His gravestone shows 1869.
He served in the Irish Guards until discharged due to ill health.
I think I have in Scotland as a lodger on the1901 census.
It's getting late so I will have to sift through your info tomorrow.
Thanks for your efforts.

Last thing - parents- William and Ann in 1901

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Westmeath/Knockarron/Carlanstown/1779077/

Does his death certificate not confirm his parents?

There are a couple of published trees with some limited knowledge re Matthew.
