Not quite right, have been posting on the Devon forum mentioned earlier, but you are correct in a way it has taken just four hours from go to wow thanks to the wonderful team here on Rootschat.

This will wind up in the local paper and will post the link when it gets published. It will be a while away yet though, the lady I have been talking to is getting a grandson to call me so I can point him at the pictures on our FB page and then she will be able to see some of them.

Searching is made so much easier when there is an unusual name in the mix, as is the case in the Lyon family. A very satisfactory outcome.......

Update...........
Have found two descendants of the Lyon family and unfortunately it appears as if they have no direct connection to the Westlake family as Rhoda Lyon (nee Westlake) did not have any children so the connection ends with her death.


Some of the photos that we have can now be identified as of the Lyon family and I am trying to track them down, possibly originally from Wiri as that line had Power of Attorney for Rhoda. If anyone can help there it would be appreciated, I have a wedding photo of Bert and Kay Lyon married July 1948 and another one marked "with love from Edith and Walter" which we think may well be a Lyon but have no definite evidence to confirm that. Merely a hunch.

I am now going to pursue the Tavistock connection and see if I can locate and male descendants of Sampson Treliving Westlake.
