Ancestry has those indexes
There is also - as transcribed

Fanny Commons November 1852 parents James and Bridget McDonnell
Elizabeth Cummins March 1858 James and Bridget McDonnell

I would think there are other children given the year range.

I had looked from 1864 to 1870 in the civil registrations for children to that couple but didn't find any, so children will be before 1864, granted I didn't have the Portarlington info than.

Thanks Guys...I got the parents names from their marriage cert from Harrington Street Dublin. In relation to Guinness records I only found a record for Denis Dunne as a Drays man. Name: Denis Dunne, Birth Date: 9 Feb 1870. Date Joined: 16 May 1893. Age Joined:    23. Residence:    Dublin, Ireland. Death Date: 27 Mar 1951. as yet no record for John, (I will keep shaking the tree). The history from Portarlington I will follow up.. Many thanks and if by chance you find something please contact..

Regards
Des

Of course - the marriage record. I had read it but forgotten   ::)

Those Portarlington records look quite possible.  However, it would make James and Bridget born abt 1820s or before. :-\

Sorry I don't wish to be a pest, that birth cert looks positive however have I any way of checking further to ensure that I have the right family. I will follow up the links provided in the replies,  ;)

Yes it does look hopeful but you can only go off parish records. It is too early for civil records.
I have tried searching for marriages/deaths for the Cummins names with variants but I can’t see anything likely.
I have also tried Family Search for any NY records but again nothing to really help.
