Fairey Aviation, Hayes WW2

Hi

Trying to put together a  bit of detail re a relative of my wife's. I believe he worked for Fairey in the early part of WW2 before going to Vickers shortly before they were bombed at Brooklands in September 1940. I have been told that the Hayes factory was also attacked but I can't find out anything about it. Does any know anything further about this.

Fairey's aviation business was absorbed by Westland - and then subsequent mergers and acquisitions. However a bit of searching might enable you to find out if their archives survive, and where.

There is a group on Facebook....Hayes, Hillingdon & Uxbridge, Past and Present....which often posts photos of Fairey Aviation. You might get some help from them.

I lived in the area for about 10 years when I was a child (1950s); Fairey Aviation, EMI and Nestles were very familiar names.
