Help with Latin Translation Please
« on: Thursday 09 August 18 13:44 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

Could somebody translate the attached Baptism record for John Joseph Beahan please? Including the additional scrawl on the left! Very much appreciated if anybody could help!

Thanks,
M

Main section:
Born 2 Aug 1885, baptised 6 Sep 1885
John Joseph Beahn son of Patrick & Mary
Beehan (formerly Fay) - married couple;
by me John Dawson M.C.
Godfather Edmund Foh (?), Godmother Elizabeth Kelly.

On the left:
Beehan (or some variant)
5 Blackstones (an address?)

And below, the kind of note which is quite common in RC baptism registers:
On 12 July 1909 he married Mary Joan/Jane Fletcher at St Alban's church, Liverpool
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

You're welcome!

(Actually for those of us who know Latin these register entries are relatively easy - mostly printed text and a standard form of words. The hardest bit is often reading the priest's handwriting.)
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,

Ha ha! Yes handwriting is some challenge at times! I'm ashamed to say I studied Latin at school - clearly not very well!

Thank you again, really appreciated.

I was amazed to see that Horsley was asking for help translating or transcribing something. I've visited this thread out of curiosity. Then I saw it was a new Horsley.
I've just been reading a thread where the handwriting experts are deciphering a will from 1530.
