Brick Wall! Armstrong/Buck/Morris
« on: Thursday 09 August 18 19:22 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I've recently started doing my family tree. I've managed to get as far back as the 1700's at the moment. I still need to double check the records I have and stuff.
Anyway, I have hit a brick wall whilst searching for one of my relatives.

His name is Aubrey Morris and he was born in 1942. He had a sister named Sheila who was born in 1945 and died in 2010. Their mother was Olga Buck (1923-1945). I believe their father was a John (Johnny) Morris, unsure of any details to do with him. Olga's mother was Vashti Armstrong and father Robert Buck.

Aubrey and his sister went to live with their grandmother Vashti as their mother died when they were young. Sheila went to live with an aunt and Aubrey stayed with his grandmother and cousin (Anis Buck). Aubrey has cerebal palsy and we believe a form of autism. Eventually, he became too much for Vashti and they put him into a home. I am unsure what home this could have been. This would have been around the 1950's as I have a picture of Vashti and Aubrey and he's around 10-12 years of age. I know he was still alive in 1994 and i believe still in a home. Is there anyway I can find out more about him? Or does anyone have any information that could help me?

Thanks

If you have looked for a death and cannot find one, then he could still be alive, and we are not allowed to discuss living people.

Did Sheila leave anyone who may have information about him?

Added:
Parents' marriage

Marriages March quarter 1942
Olga Buck    Durham S.W.
 Jack A Morris    Durham S.W.

I am unsure if he would still be alive today as he'd be in his 80's. But I can't find any death records on ancestry.com after 2005. Is there anywhere else I could look for more up to date death records?

She did, however once Aubrey went into the home, the family visited him a few times and that was it. Sheila's children were brought up believe that their aunt was their grandmother and didn't know anything about her brother until my grandmother passed away late last year. So unfortunately, have no information for me.

The children’s father seems to have been Jack Aubrey Morris aka Aubrey Jack Morris.  He remarried in 1947 after Olga’s death, and died in Sunderland in late 1999 with his birthdate recorded as 16.10.1921.

The list of addresses Girl Guide has given tells you where the recent GRO indexes are held.  You can go to any of those places in person to view an index on microfiche.  You won't find any details online.

Hi,

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

In case it helps, Aubrey's middle name was Anthony.  Found here,

https://gro.durham.gov.uk/pgPublicSearch.aspx

Ancestry has the "England and Wales, Death Index, 2007-2015"

https://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=60630

I can't find a death using either site.

Regards,
Daisy

Lots of history is available online, maybe contacting Scope could give you more information.
