John HEARN's parish was definitely recorded as Yoxford in the register at Middleton, where he married Mary DURRANT (otp) by banns on 23 April 1799. Both were single and made x mark, in the presence of Mary Ann COLE, who signed her name, as did Samuel CULLING (a frequent witness, probably unrelated).

Keith, did you manage to rule out John HURREN (bapt. Kelsale 1775)? (Last month's topic:  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=796779.msg6537597#msg6537597.)

David,

Sorry for the delay I have only "picked" up my family tree work in the last couple of weeks.  The direct answer to your question is no I haven't.

I have managed to trace back John Hearn and Mary Durrant.  From there I have traced Johns Father also a John Hearn DOB: 1745 died Groton buried 3 Dec 1835 and his wife Frances Pinder bab 2 Jun 1744 buried 12 Apr 1801.  I am trying to trace John Hearn 1745 his father.  So it seems I have traced the Hearn family as far back as 1745.

Keith

I'm not so sure the Groton family is yours. That conjecture seems to hinge on a baptism at Boxford in 1776.

Since Yoxford was not mistranscribed from the Middleton marriage register, and Kelsale is adjacent to both of those parishes (whereas Boxford is about 40 miles away), I think your time would be better spent researching the HEARN / HURREN family of Kelsale.

Marriage;
19 November 1771, Boxford, Suffolk
John HEARN to Frances PINDER

If you search Familysearch.Org for children to John/Frances some were christened Boxford;
John 1776
William 1777
Walter 1779
Others appear as Groton;
Sarah 1772, buried 1772
Sarah 1782
Thomas 1783
Frances 1784, buried 1785
Benjamin 1784, buried 1784
Frances 1787 (Parents John and Frances Pander Hearn)
Joseph 1788, buried 1788 (Father John/Mother as Frances Ponder Hearn)

Hi All,

This is my first post here. I literally just stumbled upon this thread whilst doing a little family research of my own on John Hearn and Frances Pinder who would have been my 6th great-grandparents. I'm descended through their son William b: 1777, through a few more Williams, and into Canada where the Hearn line ends at my great-grandmother.  I'd definitely be interested in expanding the English end of my Hearn family tree, and am more than happy to share the Canadian side.  Cheers

- Philip
