Thank you all. This is all new to me. It seems Betty was a bit of a sort. From the newspaper report, it says she's had 7 bastard children. I have George Fowler (who was James Savage's according to the baptism), then Thomas as James's too. Then John but I can find no baptism and no record of him between 1861 and his death. I then now have the twins Martha and Mary. Then Maria. That means there's 6 children and 5 (4 if George then becomes legitimised from his parents' marriage and 3 if John was james's) and I've spent most of the morning trying to find any more children of Betty's with no success.

Thank you all again.

Thank you for that Daisy. Yes, that could be another child. If so, I expect it would give a name of father and they were acting as a married couple. I have looked on Yorkshire Indexers and can't find a burial for him. I'll try find a baptism.

George was born before the marriage and would not have been made legitimate by the subsequent marriage of his parents at that time. The law in England & Wales didn't change to allow this until 1926.

This morning I got Maria and William's birth certs. Both were  born at Lane Side Farnley and their mother registered both. On Maria's she was simply Elizabeth Saville with no father listed. On William's she was ...formerly Fowler with father down as James Saville a cloth dresser.

I now need to try and find this James Saville in the same area.

Thanks everyone for help in finding what you have so far.

Yes, that's the rightish age. Could you put it on here please as I've looked on FindMyPast using her name and nothing correct came up.

I've never been able to find a death/burial for Elizabeth either. She could be using any name rally though.
