What became of William Whittle last seen Yeovil in 1911
« on: Saturday 11 August 18 22:37 BST (UK) »
He was born 2 Sep 1893 in Stoford Barwick.  Father down as William Whittle mother Lavinia Parsons (but not married to each other)

In 1901/1911 William is living with his maternal grandmother Patience Ettery in Yeovil.
He is down as Willie Hann 7 then William Hann Whittle 17.

It's a little complicated with the names (Patience was married to a Hann and Lavinia was her daughter with Parsons as a family middle name) but that aside would like to find William.

Grandmother died in hospital in Bishops Lydeard in 1929.  William was not the informant.

I have looked at the 1939 using birth date for William but not found him.

Any marriage/death or other possible sightings gratefully received.

FindMyPast has a record of a William Whittle born 1893 joining the National Union of Railwaymen in Yeovil iin 1913....there is also another William Whittle born in 1866 joining the same Union in Yeovil.

Also a William F Whittle marries Florence M Rose in Yeovil in 1919, and there is also a marriage between William F Whittle and Sarah M Salter in Yeovil in 1925.

Could he have died in WW1?

He's not the William Whittle, 71818 of the Notts & Derby Regiment who was KIA in1917 - because he was the son of a George and Sarah.

Nor can I see him as [obviously] being any of the other William Whittle's who died during WW1.

Thank you for the replies.

I wonder if the railwaymen were father and son otherwise is certainly a possibility.
The father of mine was a farmer per the birth certificate at Clifton Maybank.

Will see if I can find a birth for William F to rule him out **

Thanks Ray.

Patience is the grandmother William was living with as a child.
She was widowed in 1881 and remarried in 1896.
