Fairseat Boarding School.
« on: Sunday 12 August 18 09:34 BST (UK) »
Hello There,

I have been recently looking up siblings of my Spooner ancestors.
I found out that a sister of my 4x great granddad, in the 1851 Census, Harriet Spooner (baptised Harriet Augusta Spooner), was in the village of Fairseat and was a:
"Teacher of Singing."
The mistress of this school was Hannah Grant. On the original census image on find my past, it states she was: "Mistress of Boarding School." Harriet is a few lines down from Hannah here:

I have been trying to find out some history of this boarding school. The original census image definitely states it was in the village of Fairseat. But the only mention of a school in Fairseat that I can find, seems to be one that was built in 1874.

Any information would be gratefully accepted.

Thank you.  :) ;)
