GEORGE JONES of Farnham c1692-1766
« on: Monday 13 August 18 12:19 BST (UK) »
Hello

I'm still looking for the parents of GEORGE JONES, my 7 x ggf.

I have his marriage (to Damaris HART) and the births of his children, but despite years of searching, I still have no idea where he came from or who his ancestors were.

If anyone is able to shed any light on George, I would be very grateful :)

I note that the all of the children were baptised in Farnham. (Freereg spelt Joanes)
The 3 eldest were George, Charles & Alexander. Then Elizabeth 1721, Hester 1727, Anne 1729 & Jane 1732.

Other Jones to have children in same period, John, James & William

There are no apparent baptisms at Farnham for George, but the name Jones/Johns/ Joanes appears there earlier.

No births for George father Charles or Alexander in Great Britain.
No births for George in Surrey or Wales father George but a number elsewhere.

George Jones - father George (Freereg/Family Search)

1688 Greenwich, Kent father a mariner mother Marie

1689 Clerkenwell, Middlesex mother Mary

1689 Eastcheap, London

1691 Flixton, Lancashire

1691 Chatham, Kent mother Prudence

Plus others elsewhere.

So could George be one of the above or did the record not survive?
