Her birth was registered as plain Lotty Tuckwood - so was 'Carrington' added at baptism as gesture towards Edwin and Charlotte?   Her parents had a number of children including an Edwin b.1890.

I can't seem to find Charles and Eliza Tuckwood on 1891 census to establish whether 'Lottie' was with them or not.

Well spotted, Ladyhawk - feel sure that Lottie is the Charlotte with Edwin and Charlotte.

Would have thought any marriage would be in her legal name of Tuckwood.

Hello Ladyhawk.
Yes you are correct. That is the brother to my Grt,Grt G'father. In 1891, Charlotte (Lottie) is with Charlotte and Edwin aged 8yrs as in 1901 aged 18yrs. Was Lottie born illegitimately to one of Charles's children and Charlotte adopted her.?

Charles only married in 1875; his children were not old enough to become parents themselves in 1883.  It looks as though Lotty was a legitimate daughter of Charles and Eliza, but for one reason or another was brought up mostly by Edwin and Charlotte (were they her uncle and aunt?) whose only son had died.
