Michael O'Halloran, Clare , Ireland
« on: Tuesday 14 August 18 12:16 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find any information of my great great grandfather Michael O'Halloran who left Clare and travelled to Adelaide, Australia in 1856.
He is listed on passenger list for Royal Albert which departed
Plymouth in December 1856 and arrived in Adelaide in March 1857. He
is listed as labourer, age given is 23 and from County Clare. This
would give a birth date in 1833. His surname is Halloran on passenger
list and no other Halloran or O'Halloran is listed. His marriage
certificate in 1859 lists his father as Michael and our great
grandfather signs his name O'Halloran. On subsequent children's birth
certs, the surname is given as O'Halloran. He was a Roman Catholic.
He died in November 1912 in Adelaide and his gravestone is inscribed
'Michael O'Halloran.... aged 85 years' which would give his birth
date of 1827. The Biographical Index of South Australians 1836-1885
confuses the issue as it lists Michael with his father as being
Martin. He married Isabella Fox in 1859 and had 12 children.

Currently following a lead which indicates Michael came from Limerick and was born in 1838. I have extensive information post arrival in Adelaide in 1856. I am just having problems finding his roots back here in Ireland. Appreciate your reply.
