You have a point, I have also found that William was in west russell street again in glasgow in the 1891 census as "single" born in Ireland and a blacksmith? But he was already married to fanny at this time?..

Noting the dates of the marriage and the birth of Robert, maybe he hadn't let on to anyone in Glasgow?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
