Mourning Dress - Seymour family interstate file
« on: Wednesday 15 August 18 09:53 BST (UK) »
This is an unidentified subject who was in one of three photographs found in the effects of a relative's intestate file. I am assuming the black clothing indicates mourning and I am trying to get some idea of when clothing like this was fashionable in an endeavour to identify this person.  The relative was George Richard Seymour who died a bachelor in 1912 at Marrickville (New South Wales, Australia) so the photograph pre-dates that event.  There was nothing on the back of the photographs, nor on the envelope in which they ended up.  Would greatly appreciate any clues please.  J

Edwardian but not necessarily in mourning. She could be wearing any darkish colour. Red, blue, green can all appear black.

Thank you. 1901 to 1910 fits the timeline.  J

Just for comparison, my Great Grandma In my avatar is wearing mourning dress and it's dated 1904.

Thank you.  All the pointers indicate the decade 1900 - 1910.  That will help me zero in on who it might possibly be in the family.  J

P.S.  Intestate, not interstate.
