Unusual surnames.
« on: Wednesday 15 August 18 19:57 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I was looking up my family tree and I've discovered that I got a 11x Great Grandmother with a rather unusual surname. Her name was Nance Mow. She was supposedly to have been born in Roxburghshire in 1587 but I'm stuck due to her surname as it's not easy to trace, despite it being unusual! (I realise that records from the 1500s can be rather difficult to find).

So I was wondering if anyone has heard of this surname and/or know of any variations of the name?
Stewarts from Moffat and Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Twaddles and Wrights from County Longford, Ireland.
Weirs from Ayrshire, Scotland.

No but it would be hilarious if she did!

Since the person in question was born in Scotland it's unlikely to be a Chinese name- especially since the surname is a Scottish one as explained in previous thread that I posted link to earlier.
