Alice Maud Beaumont
« on: Wednesday 15 August 18 23:38 BST (UK) »
Hi all, I have been out of this for a while but I was looking at my Great Nan's info and wondered a few things. Now her grave says she died in March 14th 1964 aged 82 (so she would have been born around 1882 ish). She got married in 1912 in or around Sheffield to John Gibson Fouldes (the middle of three John Gibson Fouldes in a row!).

Would anyone be able to find her in the 1891 and 1901 censuses (she? Someone helped me years ago and found her on the 1911 census (she was a 28 Year old domestic servant in Sheffield, living with her Aunt and Uncle. Course this age would have meant she was born in 1883). I have TONS of family photos that are unlabelled and I wondered if I might find offshoots of her Beaumont family lines that might help identify them. I mean she may have been an only child but it might be fun to find out.

Thank you all in advance. My files are so messy that I would love to get some order to them all!

Fouldes.<br />Any area where our family are.  My branch started around Derbyshire, Nott's and Yorkshire.  We ended up in South Lincolnshire!  So yay!  Course any area with Fouldes in would help!  See my family tree below for what gaps I have!  Cheers!

Would also like to see any Beaumont's from Sheffield as I have lots of family photos & can't identify them!!

Was she born in Sheffield or elsewhere in Yorkshire?  Have you looked on freebmd as there are 3 births for that name between 1881 and 1883.  The only one in Sheffield was born 1881 and the 1882 Saddleworth birth died the same year.

The 1891 and 1901 censuses are free to search yourself on Family Search.  www.familysearch.org

Using the birth reg info from freebmd you can find her mothers maiden name using www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

Registration is free

Did you buy a copy of her 1912 marriage cert to establish her fathers name and occupation?. www.freebmd.org.uk

If the 1911 census is her aunt and uncle, her aunts maiden name was Needham.

The Alice Maud Beaumont with mothers maiden name Needham was registered Sheffield 1881
Vol 09C page 411.

There is a William Henry Beaumont who married Sarah Needham 1881 in Ecclesall registration district.

Possible ???
1881 census, Green hill, Norton Derbyshire
Benjamin Needham 49 scythe grinder
Anne  47
Charles 23
Benjamin 18
*Sarah 20
*Alice 13
Elizabeth 11
William 9
Rhoda (grand daughter) 5
All born Norton Derbyshire
This is the only one found so far with sisters Alice and Sarah of the right age.

1891 census Sheffield Yorkshire, 71 Arundel Street

William H Beaumont 39 licensed victualler/Pub born Yorkshire
Annie 26    born Greenhill Derbyshire (age is out Sarah would be 30)
Alice M 9   born Sheffield ** your  great gran.
Flora 5    born Sheffield
Evyline 1  born Sheffield
Alice Needham 24 servant born Greenhill Derbyshire

There are several people boarding with them, a salesman from America an actor and actress from Liverpool etc..this would match Alice Maud marriage that gave father William H Beaumont as a hotel keeper deceased.

There is also a William Henry Beaumont marrying a Annie Needham 1884 in Sheffield so did Sarah die and he marry Annie or are Sarah and Annie the same person and she fibbed about her age.?
The town she was born in is correct and matches Alice Needham of Green hill Derbyshire

There is a death registration for a Sarah Beaumont age 20 in Sheffield July/Aug/Sept 1881, the same quarter that Alice Maud Beaumont was born, so her mother could have died in childbirth.

Certificates are needed.
1st Alice Maud Beaumont 1881 Sheffield vol 09C page 411
this will confirm her mothers name.

2nd Marriage of William H Beaumont to Sarah Needham 1881 Ecclesall
It will give her fathers name to confirm if its Benjamin Needham/ and his father

3rd William H Beaumont marriage to Annie Needham 1884 Sheffield, was he a widower.
It will give her fathers name and was she Sarah' younger sister.
