Be careful about trying to go back to UK records too quickly - we might be going down the wrong path.

Are you sure James Cope was married to Hannah Murphy - do you have their marriage?
Exactly what information is given on Mary's birth certificate?
From where does "Westminister" come as James'

https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/indexsearch.doj does show a death in 1888 of a James Cope with wife's name indexed as Hannah Murphy, but I do not think the parents names were known to the informant. If this is him he is much older than your guess.

This is interesting:
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/61341088
Location Bairnsdale. Mentions the arrest of a James Cope + the claim by Mrs Cope that he'd threatened her life. Two children were sent to the industrial school.

The two children were a Mary b. 2nd July 1865 and a James b. 29 December 1864, both supposedly in Melbourne according to the Children's Ward Registers (viewable online via the Victoria Archives) - although I can't find any possible birth registration for James. These items claim that Mrs Cope (name not given) was living with a Francis Maynard.

This Mary was returned to father James in 1870.

Worth noting that James Cope buried in Bairnsdale in 1888 is buried in the Roman Catholic section.

As asked by Jorose.....how do you know James Cope was born in Westminster? What records do you have that may help identify him in UK records?

I'm fairly sure this is Hannah and (possibly) Francis Maynard.....an interesting read....a very sad story for those two children.

James Cope in Bairnsdale newspaper articles is a labourer......James Cope, father of Mary Jane is listed on her birth record as 47, born in Westminster, London and a butcher. Marriage to Hannah Murphy (26, b. Cork Ireland) is very hard to read....July 1862...Grange Ham????? (maybe Hamilton?).....siblings = James 2yrs.

There is a James Cope, born 10 Sept 1819, bap 25 Nov 1821, St Anne Westminster to James & Esther.

But given that James is buried in the RC section of the cemetary, there is a chance you are looking for a RC birth in Westminster.

Hello

Warrnambool, Victoria is right on the coast.

Grange Hamilton, Victoria, apparently is definitely not on the coast and inland.

You cannot start looking in another country, until you have reconciled or have an explanation or full understanding for the two different Marriage places and why?

Is there another separate Marriage document somewhere, or a 2nd entry (of the same marriage, like a Marriage Oath or Bond) and if my family, I would want to see if the other Marriage (both Marriages) exists and what they both say?

Just because a 19th Century and earlier Burial here in England, Great Britain, might be in Church of England records, it did not mean that the person's religion was always Church of England.

Some burials in England C of E Churchyards were Nonconformist, because many Nonconformist Cemeteries were few and may be some distance away.

In family history you can't assume anything regarding a Birth or Burial, as some Births were unrecorded. In fact there was no Legal requirement to register a Birth in England, Great Britain, until into the 1870s.

You can't rely on finding every event on pay per view online sites or Family Search (only a year ago Family Search LDS were asking for Volunteers who wished to help them input more records), some Births require a thorough search first for the different Religions and Chapels in the area, then which Archive holds the Registers (if they survived) and then sometimes a manual search of those Registers (if images are not online).

Some people changed their religion like the Great British weather!

Regarding the two Marriage places in the State / Area of Victoria you mentioned, a website says this about the two places  ...
http://www.wendishheritage.org.au/articles/the-german-speaking-settlers-of-the-hamilton-district/

The early settlers in Victoria’s Western District were mainly Prussian and Saxon farmers, who arrived at Warrnambool in 1849 and Portland in 1852. Their religion being predominantly Lutheran, they soon established congregations at South Hamilton (now the Cemetery), Hochkirch/Tarrington, Gnadenthal, St Luke’s South Hamilton, Tabor, Neukirch/Byaduk and Warrayure, with occasional services at Warrnambool.
