Thank you all, it really is a mystery. I had thought perhaps that Harry might be John?

Christine - re the John Breach is it possible this is him?
Thanks to you all for your help

Snippet from the Evening Star, Wednesday 15 April 1903
Charge of Stabbing Near Bury
Accused Committed For Trial
This (Wednesday) afternoon, before the County Magistrates at Bury St. Edmund’s, John Bridge was charged with having stabbed his brother in the head, at Risby.
Dr. Watson Smith, house surgeon at the West Suffolk Hospital, said the wound was not dangerous. He did not think it was a deliberate stab. It might have been caused unintentionally.
Defendant was committed for trial at the Assizes, but was liberated on bail.

I do think it's possible - may be the name was misheard. I can't find a John Breach born Risby and it is the right regiment at the right time. Even if it is , we haven't really shown that John Bridge of the South Suffolk Regiment is John Bridge of the Fusiliers / Labour Corps.

I'd like to find him in 1911 , but no luck so far.

I've just had another look at those 1903 service papers - I can see the name Breach pencilled in at the top of the page.
