 From  Roots Ireland
 Michael O'Donnell  Louisburgh District  12 Feb 1864
age 70yrs  Carrowmacloughlin
Labourer
Informant John Odonnell son Carrowmacloughlin

These earlier deaths on Roots normally don't show cause of death, as it was in 1864 I doubt  if you did manage to order a cert it would not show any other information.

A cause of death should be listed on ALL civil death registrations from 1864 onwards. By the end of this year the scanned image should be available on Irish Genealogy website (free).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Sorry me again,  firstly thank you all for the replies but now it has opened a new can of worms!  If as she claims Mary Boyle was born in 1821 (and I can find no trace of her) there would have been a 27 year gap between her and Michael when they married also she would have only been 13 when their eldest son was born in 1834!!
If I take that she was 90 when she died in 1905 this would mean she was born circa 1815 which would make her 19, phew things certainly get complicated when doing genealogy don't they.

Once again many thanks I think I will go and have a lie down!!  Joan
