Date of Photograph and ages/ relationships of Northumberland people
« on: Saturday 18 August 18 15:04 BST (UK) »
I have this old photograph and I am trying to identify the relatives, whom I believe are likely to be my direct ancestors. The photograph could either be Northumberland, or less likely, Norfolk, England. There is nothing written on the front or the reverse of the photograph and none of my older living relatives know who the people are.

Can anyone help with

-when the photo was likely to have been taken...I presume its Victorian, but any more clues as to when?
- any clues as to where it may have been taken?
- what are peoples best guesses as to the ages and relationships between the people?
- are the two people wearing black likely to be widows?

many thanks
Christian

Edwardian & probably around mid decade.
A mother + 2 children.
The older lady could be her mother & the one in the middle Grandmother. So possibly 4 generations.
They could all be widows in theory but the 2 older women could be wearing any darkish colour as they all look black in a black & white photo.

Thank you Jim. I’d be interested if everyone else agrees Edwardian rather than Victorian. I’ve not seen a hat similar to the one the oldest lady is wearing before.
I was thinking the same re possibly 4 generations. I suppose it’s possible the two older generations could be in-laws. It really frustrating not knowing who it could be.

Don't know about granny's hat, but yes, I 100% agree about Edwardian.
