Thomas Hunt and Elizabeth Clark Marriage record Michigan
« on: Saturday 18 August 18 19:27 BST (UK) »
Looking for the marriage record for Thomas Hunt ( 1920 Census has him as Tomas P Hunt) and Elizabeth Clark

We believe they married around 1869 in Manistee, Michigan, USA

Thomas born 1836 in England and passed 5 JUN 1924 Bear Lake, Manistee, Michigan, USA.  Elizabeth born about 1848-49 location unknown, possibly Ireland.  She passed 1926  Manistee, Manistee County, Michigan, USA.  Have not found a death record but have found a marker in the cemetery near Manistee.  Death record for her would be a great addition to our research as well.

According to https://www.johngrenham.com/surnames/, the surnames Clark and Blaine can be found together on Griffith's Valuation (1850s - 1860's) only in Belfast. This was a bit later than Elizabeth was born, but it might help.

Some of these results might be their children's marriages, I didn't click through on all of them

https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Aelizabeth~%20%2Bsurname%3Aclark~%20%2Bmarriage_place%3Amichigan~%20%2Bmarriage_year%3A1865-1875~%20%2Bspouse_givenname%3Athomas~%20%2Bspouse_surname%3Ahunt~

But I think 1869 is a little too early to expect an actual marriage record in Michigan. You might find a marriage announcement in a local newspaper.

Here's what I'm seeing.

They are not in the marriage database (though not complete) for Manistee County during that time frame.

http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/manistee/vitals/marriages/dbn/

I believe the first name of Thomas's father was mis-transcribed from the death record. It should be "John" Hunt, NOT "Foley"

I'm wondering if they may have gotten married in Canada. It appears that is where the family immigrated to after leaving England.

It appears from what I see so far, a couple of Thomas's sisters stayed in Ontario, while Thomas and his brother Robert both eventually immigrated to Michigan. His brother Robert married in Ontario, had a child and then moved to Michigan

Records for Thomas and a couple of his siblings tying them together.
