Looking for great aunt
« on: Saturday 18 August 18 22:44 BST (UK) »
Hello, I am hoping someone can help please, trying to find out what happened to my great aunt, how she passed so young and what happened to her husband, this is what I know.

My great aunt Agnes Cathie Hendry  22 DEC 1907 • 25 Station Street, Renton, Dunbartonshire, Scotland (have birth record)

Believe she married George A Prentice and I think he was born 1903 Ontario, Canada to a George Prentice and Mary Jane Crosier.

I believe Agnes and George were married 28 Apr 1928 Ecorse, Wayne, Michigan, USA

I believe my aunt died 17 FEB 1934 • Ontario, Ontario, Canada

I then think George possibly re married  Esther E Reynolds New York, not 100%

Thanks so much  ;D

Hi Taylor,

You say you believe your Agnes married George A PRENTICE, and believe she died 1934 etc... is there something that you're not 100% certain about re being able to say that is her marriage and death ?

For matching purposes, can you tell us, what are Agnes' parents' names?

Cheers

Her death record is on familysearch...free to view (if you sign in)

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9Q97-Y3SV-Z1M?i=2148&cc=1307826

It says she died from shock from general anesthesia and surgery.

There are short articles in the Globe and Mail and in the Toronto Star from 1941 about the 10th annual Crozier family reunion.  It was held in Port Perry, with 101 people attending.  Mr George Prentice won the prize for the oldest man in attendance.  Other Prentices mentioned (as Officers/officials for the 1942 reunion) are Mrs Norman Prentice (Uxbridge), Milton Prentice (Sonya), Mrs Alvin Prentice (Port Perry).

Uxbridge Newspaper has an obit for a Mrs Alvin Prentice in 1971.    Uxbridge Times Journal, July 28 1971, page 9, column 1

See the Uxbridge Library site...newspaper indexes.

http://www.uxgen.net/newspaper/newspaper/newspaper_search.php

Hmmm... the site doesn't seem to be working well at the moment.  Perhaps you can try later.

Yes her parents were Thomas Hendry and Barbara Melville.
Did her husband maybe go by Alvin then and not George, I have his father being named George born 1859 and his mother Mary Jane Crosier.
