Menominee Michigan portraits date

I have two family images with no details of who the children are.  An approximate date may lead us to that branch of the family tree.

The 2nd. is the earliest. It could be as early as late 1890's but more likely early-mid 1900's.
The child in the kilt is a boy.
The 1st. is 1900's but realistically could be any time up to WW1.
I thought maybe that the baby in the 2nd. was in the 1st. until I saw those ears, so someone else.
