Significance of "Two days"
« on: Sunday 19 August 18 17:31 BST (UK) »
I'm new to Scottish records, so am puzzled as to the significance of the words "two days" at the end of these marriage records (from 1838 in Slamannan, Stirlingshire).  Can anyone explain, please?

Thanks

Presumably the Banns were called twice?

Skoosh.

Agree, Skoosh  :)

I've seen quite a few records written like this.

I thought Banns had to be called three times.  Maybe it is/was different in Scotland.

They did, but it didn't have to be on three separate days - just three separate times. So if there were three services on one Sunday, you could be called three times on one day.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Oh, thanks.  Makes sense!
