Putting the Artilleryman the right way round puts the lanyard on the right shoulder making it 1920's not 1901-10.
No medal ribbon so didn't serve WW1. He looks quite young so probably mother & son.
The others that have been shown are Edwardian probably mid-late decade.
They don't look professionally taken so from within the family.

I've only just found this newspaper article on The Daily Mail site! Like Lydart, I instantly thought this is definitely a challenge for Rootschat.

Hoping for good news and theories.

Does anybody have any further news on this article, if the owners of the negatives have been traced?
It would be lovely to have so many informal photos of your ancestors like this, instead of the usual posed ones.

The son of the gentleman who found the photos has posted them on Twitter showing more photos than were in the news article.  There are a lot of posts (some going a little off topic) and I haven't read them all yet.

Here's the link if anyone wants a look.

I had a bit of a look at the Twitter thread (to look at the other photos and to see if there were any useful suggestions).

I love mysteries like this.

I have a few comments/observations, none of which help with ID:

People are suggesting the building might be a photographer's studio - these don't look like professional photographs (maybe someone was just having a play around). The building does look unusual, quite flimsy perhaps something like a summer house.

Many of the people in the photos look like they have had a hard life - they don't look to be from the upper classes, especially some of the children.

I would be interested to see ALL of the photos - there might be clues in some of the other ones.
