Captain George Norton
« on: Monday 20 August 18 23:19 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Having got in contact with a distant cousin, he informs me that the wife of one of my ancestors was the daughter of George Norton, a captain who was involved in defending the Isle of Wight from the Spanish Armada. I had never found a marriage for Jethro Beal, but this gentleman had located his marriage license from 1611 to Mary Norton. Any information anyone can find would be great! A Google search hasn't found anything :(

I'd appreciate any help!

My cousin said that parish registers for West Worldham don’t exist that far back so all that exists is the marriage license.

Have you searched TNA or Hampshire archives web sites.

Surely if he has the licence he can let you have the details or tell you where you can get it from

I have the license. I’m not looking for that. I’m looking for any information on Mary Beal’s father, Captain George Norton who reportedly defended the Isle of Wight from the Spanish Armada.
