Canadian War Brides
« on: Tuesday 21 August 18 17:20 BST (UK) »
Seeking information on my aunty Evelyn Doris Phyllis Robertson (nee Nottingham)who was a war bride.  She married Roderick Robertson in UK 1943 and I believed sailed to Canada abt 1946.  She settled in St John's Newfoundland.  Would like to know the name of the ship she sailed on and any other details of her life in Newfoundland.

Appreciate any help

Hi Rosie & Barry
I also found the details you both added but I do appreciate you posting them.  I also searched Google for information about War Brides, sadly one very interesting site I found, seems to be out of commission-at least the link didn't work.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone in Canada will join the topic.

No way to know for sure if these are your folks nor if they are all related b/c the only address for the four is Garson.

1974 Electoral List
Electoral Disrict Selkirk Manitoba
Rural Polling Division Garson

Roderick Robertson Insurance Adj
Evelyn Robertson
R Robertson Engineering Tech
A Robertson Field Rep

In case they are all one family and the second 2 are children, I have just put initials in keeping with RootsChat rules about posting info about possibly living people. I will PM the names to you.

She died on Jan 30 1975 at the Beausejour Hospital.  She was 55.  Wife of Roderick Robertson of Garson.  Interment Garson Cemetery.  She is survived by 4 sons and 2 daughters...and by her mother Nellie Nottingham of Wales :) :), 2 brothers and 5 sisters in Great Britain.

The children are all named, but I won't post their full names here.
