Surprised as well, have just always presumed that Squire's were 'Landlubbers' and a bit like well off Yeoman. Presumably she had no siblings and her father must have come over from Ireland to Lancashire where he met her mother. His book/books must have been about the sea or sailing one again presumes. Thanks for the info, really finding the little girls life quite interesting.
