Heapy Family - Long Line Of George Heapys - Quarnford, Alstonefield
« on: Thursday 23 August 18 11:21 BST (UK) »
Hi, Im looking for any information on any George Heapys you may have.
My 3x great grandfather Ralph was born in 1849  to a George and Ann Heapy
George was born in 1815
His father was also George born circa 1788
His father also George born 1752
His father George born 1717
His father George born 1688
This is the information I have but may not necessarily be correct
There seems to be more aswell, sons of brothers etc and not quite sure if im getting the right Georges in the right places can anyone shed any light into this?
Any help of any kind would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

If you are in doubt as to the accuracy of what you have, then I would start with the most recent that you are sure of, and work back carefully, one step at a time, confirming each step from as many different sources as you can before you move on.  It may take time, but will be worth it if the tree you end up with is accurate and not just names that sort of fit.
People tended to choose names for their children from a very small pool of names, so it is common to end up with a lot of people with the same name, and often of similar ages, in an area - often cousins, second cousins etc to each other. Hard to sort out sometimes, but try to think outside the box, look at siblings, look for Wills, etc and you may find you can get it sorted.

I have Heapy ancestors( Hi Liz  ;D) my great grandad was George Heapy b 1836 in Macclesfield died there in 1895 .Married Hannah Redfern in Macc in 1859.

His father was Joseph from Quarnford (1799-1841) married to Martha Wardle.

There must a link somewhere along the line?

Hi Carol, i think we spoke i while ago after my post on Ralph Heapy, I havent got much further since then! Do you know who Joseph's father was? I have only worked back on a direct line so far so could be the son of a brother somewhere.
Thanks
Emily

Hi EBoon,

I thought Ralph Heapy sounded familiar  :D .But no I don't have one in my tree (yet)

Joseph's parents were John Heapy and Sarah Wood, but I don't have any dates for them.

So far all the only kids I've found of theirs is Abraham b 1797, my Joseph 1797 and Thomas 1801.

All born Quarnford.

Carol, still no luck in finding any names and dates that match with yours, im sure they will be there somewhere.
I have just got back from a church visit looking for graves I found a grave belonging to a John and Sarah Heapy although the dates are way out. Yesterday i visited the church in Flash which is part of Quarnford and not many there apart from a Josephus and his family. Still very interesting.

As for Ralph Heapy I had more luck with him and there is a few memorials to him in Macclesfield as he died in WW1 you may find this interesting http://macclesfieldreflects.org.uk/1915/05/06/heapy-ralph/
