dump a branch
« on: Thursday 23 August 18 13:44 BST (UK) »
I am considering (silly as it seems)  wiping a branch of my tree.  NOT from the root :) just a stem.

DUE to --- tooooo much information out there.

I was faffing about last night, sorting my Wrights out -- and finding they lead to Henry VII and the Wright brothers etc -- got me all in a caffuffle.

There was suddenly such an 'influx' of information that varied with every new page or upload.

So even tho... I am sure they ARE my directs....

I think they will have to be put on one side -- until I can simplify the information that's out there.

Silly I know.

I suggest that you put that particular branch on the back burner for now.  Don't wipe them out, you may regret it later.  :'(

I've got a bit saturated with a branch of my family tree in the past.  Got to the stage where I couldn't see the wood for the trees.  :o

I've just put them away for another day.  Not going to waste all my hard work by getting rid of them altogether.  Perhaps in a few months time I'll dust them off and have another look.  :)

Yes -- thats the best bet, I was 'agranoyed'  (xin personal expression :) )  When I posted...

Ha ha.. sorry - somedays this is such a crazy 'hobby'  and so much is marked down as possible that you wonder why you bother.

That was a 'WRIGHT' bad day :) :)

thanks for your response - really appreciated.

Good advice. Whatever you've got, just record it without going further, until or unless you wish to.

I first met a second cousin about 25 years ago. He thought he was the last of our family. Oh dear no. I got back to 1700 without knowing it. He employed a genealogist to extend my researches, added a whole host of family although it was only for another 5 years due to no earlier parish registers. It did establish where we came from. I can tell there's a lot more to it. It will have to be left to someone else to delve into. I'm old and ill.
