From cemetery plan Carol kindly sent me  it shows the PP area where Seymore J Moyise is buried  and  quite near Popes Lane.

I was wondering if someone could visit the cemetery for me and look for me -  until then, I won't know either way?

Any help will be very much appreciated

I was very lucky recently, I was looking with a relative for  an old grave in Willesden Lane Kilburn, we couldn't find a stone, we had the details but as we walked away we saw it propped up against the next one but to the back, it was a very small one, it dated back to 1925, it was very emotional to be honest and it was only persistence that we found it, this cemetery is kept very well, some stones are against walls or propped up as they have fallen, it was a very rewarding afternoon.

Yes you were very fortunate to find it and can imagine you would be emotional. If the cemetery wasn't so far away I would look myself. Just thinking about Seymour makes me sad.

I have searched many cemeteries for myself and others and gone in blind (so to speak) with no idea whether there was headstone, sometimes grass knee high. I remember finding one for someone in New Zealand.

PS. I am trying to find out whether there was an Obituary for Seymour - might give me some answers.

Have been in touch with London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham Libraries & Archives to see if there was an Obituary. There isn't one.

It's fairly rare for anyone in the UK to have an obituary in the local paper today,so would have been even more unlikely in 1946 only a year after the war had finished.

Her husband would have had to have had quite a bit of money to pay for one.
Together with the cost of the funeral and a toddler to look after too.

I do appreciate what you are saying. Had been thinking  about the financial side of things and must have been extremely difficult for the father to deal with.  Perhaps he didn’t like to ask Seymour’s father for help.
