Hi all,

I have accidentally deleted a person from the tree ... are they recoverable?

Hi

Just add them again (from your notes) ?

Or

Restore your tree from your latest backup?
You are taking backups aren't you?

Even if you're not actively taking backups you may find that FTMs settings do (my old version always saves an .FTW file and an .FBK one when I exit).

Without closing the FTM file you've accidentally deleted the person from, use windows explorer or similar to navigate to the directory it saves to and with luck you'll see a pair of files with a date and time stamp equal to when you last saved/closed your tree.  Take a copy of both and rename them - they are your safe files for when it all goes belly-up.  Then from within FTM open your safe backup and see if your missing person has magically reappeared.

Weigh up whether to re-add the missing person or re-key all the other changes made during your FTM session - unless it's changed, FTM saves ON EXIT not periodically during a session.

Thanks guys.

I'll type it in from the certs and notes ... luckily the deleted person didn't have much on them.

Hi

"unless it's changed, FTM saves ON EXIT not periodically during a session."

You can take as many backups as you like, manually, during a session . . . . .
