Hello, Im looking into the Humphrestons of Albrighton... and trying to find the connection between it, and My family, if there is one..

My 3x great gran was a sussannah humphreston, born pattingham 1804, her parents being a thomas humpherson and mary roberts (married 1792 wolverhampton)

with such an unusual name, I was thinking surely there must be some connection?

A Google search turns up this information:
William Humfreston of Humfreston/Humphreston Hall had a daughter Frances or Francesca, who married Sir Vincent Corbet.
They had a son, Sir ANdrew Corbet who was born in 1580.

Also listed by Historic England as Humphreystone Hall. 15th Century origin.

Hello
There seems to be a Thomas Newall Humphreston who marries in Pattingham 18.10.1808 to Catherine Pitt.

At Wolverhampton is a baptism Thomas Humpherson s of John Humpherson alias Newell 19 mar 1754.

Your Thomas seems to be buried at Pattingham 15.11.1832 age 73 so born 1759 could they be the same man?
There is a Sarah d of John and Ann at Wolverhampton 5.11.1761,sister Gertrude 28.12.1766,John 3.1.1751

There is a little family in Wolverhampton

ps there is a Will for a Mary Humphreyson at Tettenhall 1714.

I feel there is a connection - where?
Rhe Humphersons are my deep ancestral roots.  Mt grandmother was Julia Humpherson (1860)
She was born in Wrockwardine Wood.  Her parents were Thomas Humpherson (1829) of
Little Wenlock, his spouse Mary Hodgkiss (1834).  She was from Dawley Magna.
My maternal grandparents resided in Donnington Wood, Shropshire.

Let me know if this proves fruitful to you.  I have a long list of Thomas Humphersons/

Illustrations of British History, Biography and Manners, in the Reigns of Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary, Elizabeth and JamesI - published 1791

Rowland Whyte married Ann, daughter of Thomas Pilcher of London, and left an only son, William, who settled at Shrewsbury, and had in 1663, by his wife Mary, daughter of Richard Corbet, of Humfreston in Shropshire, a son Charles, then seven years old.

Not sure if anyone is following this thread after such a period of inactivity but for what it's worth -

I know of a John Lees, buried 1769 in Donington, who said in his will that he is 'of Humfreston Hall',  held by lease from Charles Colemore.

Incidentally, the origin of said John Lees is a mystery, being such a common name with many different spellings. And the existence of a second couple John and Mary Lees in the same parish at around the same time!
