Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Archive Service
« on: Monday 27 August 18 15:35 BST (UK) »
I think the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Archive Service may have some documents of interest to me and I'd like to visit tomorrow. I can't contact them today as it's a holiday, does anyone know wether I can just turn up at the archives or do I need an appointment to go there

This may help, you may have to book in advance

Are they two separate offices?

I've not pre-booked at Stafford - but I have only visited on a couple of occasions - they do now have larger premises than when I was last there.  Stoke, I have no idea.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Stafford I don't usually book if its for a microfische or documents. If film reader or computer you may be better off booking. Lichfield archives have closed now and so they may be busier plus when Who Do You Think You Are is on , which it has just finished it also gets busy.
