Great War
« on: Tuesday 28 August 18 11:49 BST (UK) »
I am doing some research on our village Roll of Honour in advance of the 11 Nov & am looking to find some info on some of those commemorated. There may be several of these requests in the next few days/weeks but any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Looking for info/clarification on service records primarily.

The first is one George Thirkettle Brown - b 1891 in Yaxley, Suffolk the son of John & Eliza BROWN.   D: 1918?

Thanks in advance
K

CWGC record for 592495 George Thurkettle Brown died 26 March 1918 https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/742458/brown,-george-thurkettle/

There is  a Probate calendar entry for him (George Thirkettle Brown) which records that he died on or since 21 March 1918, was a corporal in 18 Battalion, the London Regiment, and left a widow Mary Elizabeth Annie Brown. 28 The Green, Romford Road, Stratford.

Thank you both very much for your help.  The record in our church records him as being in the rifle brigade so I think we can safely say the CWGC record is the one I am looking for.
